Annual. Very versatile smooth deep purple round to egg-shaped fruit. Grown in NZ since at least the 1900s.

Plant in sunny warm position in well drained rich soil. Grow like a tomato but needs a longer growing season. 150-160 days to harvest. Basic ingredient of Ratatouille, Moussaka.
